Post-Mortem upload process

Problem:

There are many people who seem to want to upload content, but yet are afraid to allow their colleagues, comrades, family... enemies to find such creations. Many still create the media, but then do not upload it, and it disappears into the void.

Potential solution:

It would be great to have a system where a person can upload sometime to the server, but it would not be visible for some period of time. This period can be reset when needed, so a person can either: set the period to something like 60 years or set the period to 1 year and then receive the e-mail before it will be made available with the link to restart the count.

Issues to think about:

  • Contents need to be made very secure, because people are trusting the site with something that is explicitly inflammatory.
  • Probably a good idea to have some sort of grace period in cases where it maybe possible that the person just didn't click the link due to illness, loss of internet connection, change of e-mail, imprisonment, or just busy streak.
  • Probably content should not be released automatically, but rather it should be reviewed by a human being prior to that.

Delayed Edit extension

A great thing would be to have a delayed edit ability. It would definitely help administrator (myself) to run this site, and perhaps help out other projects in the meantime. The idea is to be able to make an edit, but for it not to be visible until some time in the future. It can perhaps use the same structure from the 'unconfirmed edits' that are used on many of the projects.

Things to think about:

  • How would one go about editing the page that has some edits waiting to happen. If it is an edit on the different part of the page, perhaps the problem can be rectified, otherwise something needs to warn the new editor or the original delayed editor of the issue so that they can resolve it.
  • Should delayed edit be another right? It seems like a great feature, and doubtful that it would be abused since spammers normally try to make their spam seen by spider-bots before admin can catch the edit. But there maybe some use case where an admin would want to separate edit and delayed-edit rights.
