Pornography is not inherently shameful. Pornography, or images of people engaged in sex acts, or otherwise arousing material, has been around in every medium imaginable since human beings could make art. Sex is not shameful, images of sex are not inherently shameful. I have always firmly believed that sexual pleasure is one of the most seredipitous aspects of human existence. We should revel in our ability to be pleased and to share physical pleasure with others in consensual, respectful, and glorifying acts of love.

I am intergender, I am pansexual, and I am polyamorous. None of those words are recognized by my computer's spell check, yet "hate," "genocide," "eugenics," "racism," "rape," "torture," and even "hangnail" all are. Clearly even the most horrifying things known to human existence still don't hold a candle to the amount of unease produced in average adults when we think of issues relating to gender and sexuality, especially that deviating from the patriarchal, heteronormative -- they aren't even present in our lexicon!

There needs to be a shift in the way we think of sex. There needs to be a shift in the way pornography is made. I'm tired of seeing girls getting throat-fucked to the point of gagging and vomiting. I'm tired of the degrading, pseudo-rape porn that makes me want to take a shower after accidentally stumbling upon it. I am a female-bodied creature, and I like to look at titillating imagery. Porn should be made for and by people like myself, and depict people like myself being treated as human beings with feelings, souls, minds, and libidos of their own. This is NOT too much to ask. This is NOT femi-Nazi bullshit. I have a right to feel comfortable about the porn I beat off to, and so do you!

I want to be part of the solution. I want to be the change I wish to see in the world.
